Canada Operations

Tahoe’s Canadian operations are located in Timmins, Ontario, one of the world’s most prolific gold camps. The Timmins Mines include the Timmins West Mine and the Bell Creek Mine and Mill complex. The Bell Creek Mill processes ore from both operations.

The Bell Creek Mine is an underground gold mine and processing facility.

Location

Located in Hoyle Township, Porcupine Mining Division, approximately 20 kilometers northeast of Timmins, Ontario.

Ores

Gold mineralization in the Bell Creek Mine occurs in steeply-dipping, shear-hosted sulfide mineralization zones.

Process & Facilities

Operations are exploiting the gold mineralization by underground longhole mining methods with ore trucked to surface via a ramp system for processing. The Bell Creek Mill processes ore from both the Timmins West and Bell Creek mines. Ore is processed by single-stage crushing and single-stage grinding, with a portion of the gold recovered by gravity methods, followed by pre-oxidation and cyanidation with carbon-in-leach and carbon-in-pulp recovery. A project to rehabilitate a historic shaft at Bell Creek and extend it from approximately 300 meters to a depth of 1,080 meters commenced in the second quarter of 2016, with completion targeted for the end of 2018. The shaft project is expected to result in a doubling of production at Bell Creek, to approximately 80,000 ounces per year, and to significantly extend mine life.

Background

Tahoe acquired the Bell Creek Mine in April 2016 as part of its acquisition of Lake Shore Gold Corporation. Bell Creek has been in operation since 2012.

Timmins West is an underground gold mine comprised of the Timmins deposit, the Thunder Creek deposit and the 144 Gap deposit.

Location

Located approximately 19 kilometers west of Timmins, Ontario.

Ores

Gold mineralization in the Timmins West Mine occurs in steeply-plunging mineralized zones which occur within or along favorable lithostructural settings.

Process & Facilities

The Company produces ore from Timmins West via a 5.5 meter diameter shaft and a 5 meter by 5 meter ramp from the surface. The three deposits are connected by internal ramps and drifts. Primary mining methods include longitudinal and transverse longhole mining. Ore produced from the Timmins West Mine is hauled via surface highway trucks to the Bell Creek mill for processing via single-stage crushing and single-stage grinding, with a portion of the gold recovered by gravity methods, followed by pre-oxidation and cyanidation with carbon-in-leach and carbon-in-pulp recovery.
