Peru Operations

Tahoe has two operating gold mines in Peru: La Arena and Shahuindo.

La Arena is an open-pit, heap leach gold mine.

Location

Located in northern Peru, approximately 480 kilometers north-northwest of Lima, in the Department of La Libertad.

Ores

The La Arena mine deposit is high-sulfidation epithermal oxide gold mineralization hosted in brecciated sandstone within the Chimu Formation.

Process & Facilities

Operations are currently exploiting the oxide gold reserve by open pit methods using conventional drill, blast, shovel and truck open pit methods. The oxide ore is truck-dumped directly onto leach pads or to stockpiles with no crushing or agglomeration required prior to leaching. The mine currently operates at 36,000 tonnes per day.

Background

Tahoe acquired the La Arena property in April 2015 as part of its acquisition of Rio Alto Mining. La Arena has been in operation since 2011.

Ores

The Shahuindo deposit is an intermediate-sulfidation epithermal sediment-hosted gold deposit centered around a large amplitude fold intruded by felsic stocks.

Process & Facilities

Shahuindo is an open pit mine using conventional drill/blast, shovel and dump truck operations with heap leach processing. The Shahuindo Expansion project is currently underway. The Company expects to reach a production rate of 36,000 tonnes per day by the end of 2018.

Background

Tahoe acquired the Shahuindo property in April 2015 as part of its acquisition of Rio Alto Mining. The Company commenced construction of the Shahuindo Mine in 2015, which reached commercial production in May 2016.
