In close cooperation with business and community leaders, and local and federal governments, we directly contribute to the economic and social development of the communities in which we operate. Environmental responsibility, social initiatives and economic contributions are the pillars of our strategy to develop prosperous communities which endure beyond the life of the mine. In 2014, our subsidiary and operator of the Escobal mine, Minera San Rafael (MSR), spent approximately $2.3 million on CSR efforts in its local and regional communities, emphasizing local infrastructure, agriculture, governance programs, reforestation, nutrition, education and health.
